Jan-Philipp Bleeke

When we met Jan-Philipp Bleeke on a scouting trip to the Mosel we were drawn to his eclectic approach to a very classic wine region and connected with his charismatic and passionate energy immediately.  Born far away from Germany’s famed wine regions, Jan-Philipp found his way to winemaking through several twists and turns in life that brought him to the beautiful Mosel Valley.

This first-generation winemaker farms his steep slope vineyards using biodynamic principles and agroforestry. He is the founder of the Mosel’s first ever community supported agriculture project called "SoLaWino", a partnership between the winegrower and consumers in which responsibilities, risks and rewards are shared.

Unlike many other generational wineries he is forging his own way, working in one of the world’s most challenging regions and in spite of that is driven to give back not only to his local community but to the environment as a whole.  These wines are soulful, exciting, and not least of all simply delicious.

Outside of the Mosel, he is also working on projects in Rheinhessen, Hungary and Alsace.
